Kayak Immersion Symposium-KIS
Who is this class for?
This is what you'll learn
Important Tip:
Many students in these classes usually are most concerned with learning the capsize recovery methods and may have floundered about on their own and want to get it right. So if you choose to, you can be getting wet several times to maximize your learning experience and that's why we hold Kayak Immersion later in the season. You are not required to practice capsizes unless you want to-totally your choice and comfort level. If you do not already own a kayak and gear we can provide these at no extra charge along with a wetsuit for warmth if needed. KIS students have all kinds of unique questions ranging from car rack solutions to cold water gloves. Don't think you have to be a crack paddler to get the most out of this workshop. A lot of information changes hands from other students as well as your instructors.
Cost: $130.
What Kayak Immersion Symposium students say:
"I was self-taught and thought I was a pretty good paddler. I leaned more in the first 20 minutes of your KIS than in the past five years of trial and error. I can see now that I would have languished as a beginner (thinking all the while I was an intermediate) forever without taking your workshop. It was the most important step I've taken in paddling and I will highly advise my friends to take this workshop."
Ken Freedman-Indianapolis, IN
"My husband fell out of his kayak the first day we went out and couldn't get back in until he swam it to shore and could stand up. This freaked me out and is why we signed up for the Kayak Immersion Symposium and I was so pleased to learn how easy it actually is to get back in with the right tools. We went back home very happy we finally made it over to your school and picked up so many new skills."
Sarah Willis-Novi, MI
Please Note:
We do not teach the Eskimo roll in the KIS since that technique for righting a kayak is a separate class by itself.
