Our LAST class of the year is the Kayak Immersion Symposium-KIS on September 6th at 3:00pm. This is a great opportunity to move your skill set to the next level in time for some great late summer and fall paddling. Click here to read all about it.

Women On Water (WOW)

Who is this class for?
Over the years we’ve had a number of requests about hosting Women’s Only classes and the following letter from a client finally pushed us over the edge.

“My sisters and I have been coming to Jackson for four straight summers to paddle with your guides as a way to re-connect without the stress of managing all the family things that crop up at the holidays. And without whiny kids or husbands! We’ve had so much fun and relaxation that we now want to each bring a friend along to share our pleasure and expand the Sisterhood of Water Sprites as Todd dubbed us. Perhaps you should offer several class dates just for us gals? You know we like to do things together and discover new things. Oh and you already know we love your ice cream shop-The Parlor!”
Cindy W-Grosse Pointe, Michigan

After asking plenty of questions last summer we have come up with several dates over the season that are exclusively for women. Time to grab a friend and take a road trip to Jackson!

  • You’ll still get most of the elements from the popular Beginner Plus class but we
will take additional time on things women have told us are important to them.
  • Equipment that is more female-friendly.
  • Ways to carry kayaks on cars without hurting you or the car!
  • Stretches and exercises that can make paddling more comfortable and
    enjoyable for women.
  • Discussion about clubs or groups that paddle in the region
  • Plenty of time during the session to just relax and laugh.
  • Special passes to The Parlor-Michigan’s legendary ice cream emporium.

Important Tip:
While you will learn an amazing amount about kayaks and technique at WOW the real goal is to peg out the old fun meter. And you could even win a nice prize for the ugliest paddling shoes or the “hat from hell” which proves there are no fashion police at WOW. Ten percent of all profits will go towards the Friends of the Falling Water Trail (a non-profit group promoting an important rail-trail project that is critical to the environment and family recreation in the area)

Cost: $95 including all equipment
